Electricity Use by Building
Use the form above to explore the available monthly energy use data, including electriciy and natural gas use. While all buildings should have used electricity during every month, not every building using natural gas. Data for a given month is usually not available until mid way through the next month.
Buildings generally use natural gas under three different circumstances:
- If the building is far from the central heating plant it may have its own natural gas boiler.
- Buildings that would normally be heated by the central heating plant may have a small natural gas boiler that is run during the summer to provide hot water when the central heating plant is off.
- Various buildings such as dining halls and science buildings may use natural gas for appliances.
