U.S. POLITICAL HISTORY, 1770-1860
ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP TENURE TRACK POSITION

The Department of History and the Leadership Studies Program at Williams College seek to make a joint appointment in the broad history of leadership in American society between the American Revolution and the Civil War, with a preference given to the history of presidential politics and leadership in these years. The position commences in the Fall of 2010 at the beginning assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment is possible under special circumstances; Ph.D. in hand or dissertation completed by time of appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach widely in the fields of American political and constitutional history in this era, periodically teaching both the first half of the US history survey course and one of the core courses in Leadership Studies, and developing new courses in his or her area of specialty. The successful candidate will also be expected to work as part of a team in promoting the continued growth and consolidation of the program in Leadership Studies at Williams.

THE OFFICE OF CONGRESSWOMAN NIKI TSONGAS (D-MA)

The Office of Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (D-MA) offers internships to able and interested candidates. Internships are designed to meet intern goals as well as provide needed assistance to staff and constituents. Both full and part-time positions are available year round in the D.C., Lowell, Lawrence, and Acton offices.

The goals of Congresswoman Tsongas's internships include: putting theories learned in school into practice, providing an understanding of the inner workings of Congress, and producing substantitve policy and constituent case work in an professional office environment.

It is an exciting opportunity to experience the United States government outside the classroom.
