HOW TO APPLY
Prospective students are invited to apply online with the form contained on this site (bottom section of the "How to Apply" tab; also at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=williams-g). A completed, online application includes biographical and contact information, a statement of professional and intellectual purpose, letters of recommendation, and a sample research paper. GRE scores should be sent directly by ETS to Williams College, code 3965. Official transcripts should be sent directly to the Program by the applicant's home institution(s). The current application deadline is January 4, 2010.
Interviews
Candidates are welcome to come to Williamstown for an interview; telephone interviews are also possible. Please contact the Graduate Program to make the necessary arrangements. An interview is not required, however, to be considered for admission. Interviews normally take place in January.
Class Size and Profile
In recent years each matriculated class has averaged a dozen students. The student body varies widely in age, experience, background, and nationality. Some entering students have just completed the bachelor's degree, while others may have spent several years in the workplace, including many in museum jobs. The program welcomes applicants from outside the field of the history of art.
Notification
Notification of admission is normally made in March and April.
