- Think Tanks Directory from Harvard Kennedy School is a comprehensive directory of think tanks around the country and world. If you like research and public policy, think tanks are good targets for your job search.
- The Partnership for Public Service and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management has developed a national initiative, “A Call to Serve: Leaders in Education Allied for Public Service,” which is designed to educate a new generation about the importance of a strong civil service, help re-establish links between federal agencies and campuses, and provide students with information about federal jobs. Learn about federal agencies and what they do, search for federal jobs, internship tips and much more!
- The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to learn more about the daily operations of the White House. In addition to normal office duties, interns attend weekly lectures, volunteer at special events, participate in tours, and contribute to a community service project in the Washington, D.C. area.
- The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States, invites Williams OCC to nominate two candidates for their Junior Fellows Program. Junior Fellows provide research assistance to Associates working on the Carnegie Endowment's projects such as non-proliferation, democracy building, trade, US leadership, China-related issues and Russian/Eurasian studies. Application information is available at OCC in mid-to-late October.

- Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management - APPAM is dedicated to improving public policy and management by fostering excellence in research, analysis, and education.
- The Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) is a national program that prepares young adults for an advanced degree and ultimately for careers and influential roles serving the public good. PPIA has an outreach focus on students from groups who are underrepresented in leadership positions in government, nonprofits, international organizations and other institutional settings.
- StudentJobs.gov - search for jobs, create a profile, create a resume, and links to agencies. Studentjobs.gov is a joint project between the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the U.S. Department of Education's Student Financial Assistance office. This Web site is designed to be your one stop for information you need to find the job you want in the Federal Government.
- The United States Department of State has launched a new career website: http://careers.state.gov. You will find more information about Foreign Service Officers, Student Programs, Civil Service Opportunities and more! The Foreign Service selection process has changed. Candidates must apply online, submit a personal narrative, take the Foreign Service Officer Test, and then pass the Oral Assessment Exam. Please note: The deadline to apply for the United States Department of State Summer Internship Program is November 1.
- The Brookings Institution is a private nonprofit organization devoted to independent research and innovative policy solutions. Internship opportunities can be found here.
- USAJOBSis the official job site of the United States Federal Government. It’s your one-stop source for federal jobs and employment information.
- Internships USA, Internships in International Affairs-2006 - There are over 130 organizations (government agencies, non-profit organizations, NGO’s and international organizations) offering experience in the international arena.
- Washington Internships in Law & Policy-2006 - Interested in working in DC? Approximately 300 organizations offer internships affecting change.
- The Congressional Internship Book 2005-2007 - Updated since Congress took office in January of 2005, this resource lists internships with over 250 members of Congress. Including application requirements deadlines and more.
- Spotlight on Careers-Federal Government; Spotlight on Careers-Public Policy - Spotlight On Careers, a collaborative project initiated by the Liberal Arts Career Network (LACN), a consortia of twenty-nine private liberal arts colleges. Through use of the World Wide Web, the goal is to make available the best information from a wide range of career fields.
Capitol Hill
- Congressional Quarterly - Under Hot Links, select Hill Jobs. You can find internships and full-time opportunities on Capitol Hill.
- Democratic National Committee (DNC)
- Republican National Committee (RNC)
- Each party, the DNC and RNC, plans a convention every four years to nominate a Presidential Candidate. These organizations promotes election of their own Party candidates by giving technical and financial support, and works with national, state, and local party organizations, elected officials, and constituencies to respond to the needs and views of the its respective electorate and the nation.
- The Hill is a non-partisan, non-ideological newspaper that describes the inner workings of Congress, and the pressures confronting policy makers. It includes a jobs section.
- Hill Zoo Hill Zoo is a web site for Congressional staffers and Capitol Hill legislative community members. Jobs and internships are listed by political party.
- Roll Call is widely regarded as the leading publication for Congressional news and information. You can find job listings at the RC Jobs web site.
- Internships USA: The Congressional Internship Book 2005-2007 - Updated since Congress took office in January of 2005, this resource lists internships with over 250 members of Congress. Including application requirements deadlines and more.
- Politics 1 - Politics 1 is a non-partisan web site that posts campaign and political help-wanted ads.
- The Washington Post - is the largest and oldest newspaper in Washington, D.C. and has distinguished itself through its reporting on the workings of the White House, Congress, and other aspects of the U.S. government.
- C-SPAN is a public service created by the American cable television industry: It provides their audience live gavel-to-gavel proceedings of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and to other forums where public policy is discussed, debated and decided-all without editing, commentary or analysis and with a balanced presentation of points of view.
Speaker of the House - The Speaker's most prominent role is that of presiding officer of the House. In this capacity the is empowered by House rules to administer proceedings on the House floor, including the power to recognize Members on the floor to speak or make motions and the power to appoint Members to conference committees. By statute, the Speaker is also second in line, behind the Vice President, to succeed to presidency
