Williams is a residential college, and the majority of our students live in campus housing. Our buildings range in size from small co-operatives where senior students cook and clean for themselves, to larger residence halls divided into suites and groups.
First Year Housing
First-year students live in "entries" of approximately twenty-five students, headed by a pair of Junior Advisors (JAs). JAs are third-year students who provide support, friendship, and advice to their first-year residents. Together they share six residence halls -- Sage, Williams, Mills, Dennett, Armstrong, and Pratt. First-year students are housed in both singles and doubles. First years are affiliated to each neighborhood through their entry, and are eligible to participate in Neighborhood life.
Upper Class Student Housing and the Neighborhoods
Upperclass students live in houses that belong to four Neighborhoods -- Currier, Wood, Spencer, and Dodd. These Neighborhoods provide a network of social, educational, and administrative resources to members of their houses. Upper class student housing is comprised of singles, doubles, and suites, though approximately 75% of upper class students live in singles. Williams has no fraternities, sororities, or special-interest housing. Click below for info on each neighborhood.
Co-Ops Co-Ops are small houses where senior students live in small groups and cook and clean for themselves. Co-Ops provide students with a more independent living experience, however the houses are close enough to campus to provide connections to the rest of the community. All students who live in Co-Ops are also members of a neighborhood, and have the rights and privileges granted to them as members.
GetARoom@Williams
A part of The Office of Campus Life, GetARoom@Williams (made up of Aaron Gordon, Assistant Director for Residential Programs and Gail Rondeau, Campus Life Assistant) is here to facilitiate student housing needs and processes throughout year round. GetARoom coordinates first-year housing placements, grants off-campus releases, runs the co-op draw, and facilitates the Neighborhood Room Draws.
