50th Anniversary of the CDE!
Celebration Plans are Underway
The CDE program is nearly 50 years old ! To celebrate, we are planning an event/celebration in Williamstown for the CDE 50th anniversary. A few key facts:
- DATES - Tuesday, October 12, through Friday, October 15, 2010. Why then? The Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank will be in Washington in 2010 and will end on Monday, October 11. Also, mid-October usually includes good foliage in Williamstown.
- WHO IS INVITED - All CDE alumni. Many educational sessions also will be open to the CDE Class, to Williams undergraduates, and to Williams undergraduate alumni. Social activities will be an opportunity for you to see former classmates and professors.
- LODGING - To be arranged. The CDE will work to organize many local host families who can offer free lodging. There also are many local hotels and motels. We will send more information after getting some idea of total attendance. The following link on the Williams website offers initial information, http://www.williams.edu/home/visitors/
- TRAVEL - Unfortunately, the CDE will not be able to cover the costs of travel for those other than invited speakers.
- EVENTS - We are planning for several types of activities: a few high-profile talks for a broad audience, several professional sessions for CDE alumni, sessions about Williams and the CDE today, sessions to link CDE alumni with the broader Williams community, and social activities. WE WANT THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY TO BE INTERESTING, TO FOSTER DIALOGUE AMONG CDE ALUMNI, AND TO BE FUN.
