Williams Japanese Program

Welcome to the web site for the Japanese Program at Williams College.

The Japanese Program is housed within the Department of Asian Studies. The core of the Japanese program is the four-year language curriculum. In addition, the program includes literature and Japanese traditional theatre arts, as well as Japanese history, music, art, religion and other fields that are offered by affiliated faculty from various departments.

Williams offers a Japanese major that includes among its requirements four years of language work, as well as an Asian Studies major that requires at least two years of language work and additional focused coursework in one area of Japanese studies (history, art, literature, etc.).

This site provides information on program faculty, courses, opportunities, and events. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us using the information on the contacts page.
